The Parish priest, St John of the cross Parish Mararaba Fr. Augustine Garba OSA has called on Nigerians to live a life of sacrifice as we mark Good Friday.
Fr.Garba who spoke to our correspondent during the reenactment of the passion of Christ at his Parish in Nassarawa state said Christians should emulate Jesus who sacrificed himself for us.
” We live in an era when people only think of themselves. People only do thinks that benefit themselves. Let us like Jesus who died for all of us begin to think of others and sacrifice for others to benefit “
Speaking on why Good Friday is called good inspire of the death of Jesus he said it is so because it was the day our salvation was bought.
“Instead of us to die on the cross, he died for us. He took our place on the cross that we may be saved that is why we call it Good Friday.”
Rev .Fr Eugene Inobeme OSA who also spoke to our correspondent said ” Jesus paid our debt on Good Friday, without his death on the cross we would not be saved that is why we call it Good Friday.
On the significance of reenacting the death of Christ Fr. Eugene said it helps us to remember that Christ died for us, so we should live a life free from sin”

Good Friday is the second day in the easter triduum marked by the Catholic church as part of activities to mark the end of lent and ursher in Easter. Youths normally act a passion play modelled after the suffering and death of Jesus as recorded in the Bible.
