BANGLADESH HIGH COMMISSIONER CALLS FOR STRONGER BUSINESS TIES_Ada Nkong

The President Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Mr Babatunde Ruwase has urged the Federal government to provide platforms for business men to talk to themselves.
Mr Ruwase made the call during his address at an interactive session organized by the Bangladesh high commission in Lagos.
According to Ruwase ” Nigeria is keen to boost economic growth by inviting non- oil investors into the country”. He called on Bangladeshi businesses to invest in Agriculture, ICT, Pharmaceuticals among others, saying Nigeria is open to “value addition”.
While welcoming participants to the interactive session, the Bangladesh High commissioner, Shameem Ahsan thanked Nigeria for supporting Bangladesh position at the World Economic Forum.
He said Bangladesh had set a standard in the area of Gender parity with the Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, opposition leader and many other leaders being women.According to hon, even in school enrollment at all levels, gender parity had been achieved in Bangladesh.
The High commissioner who lauded the economic growth rate of his country which according to him stood at 7.86%, making them one of the fastest growing economy in the world, pointed out that Bangladesh is the second highest producer of garments in the world.
Ahsan said the purpose of the interactive session was to boost bilateral trade between the two countries and create more awareness about Bangladesh. He lamented that at present, the volume of trade between Bangladesh and Nigeria was very low.
The interaction ended in a dinner at which guests were treated to various Bangladeshi delicacies though the High Commissioner declared his love for Nigerian Jollof rice.
Bangladesh is the 8th most populous nation in the world right next to Nigeria which is Seventh and has attained power generation of 20,000 megawatts.
