Bangladesh Commission Hosts International Mother Language Celebration in Abuja_Ada Nkong

The Bangladesh commission in Abuja joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Mother Language day by hosting an evening of entertainment in different languages across the world.

Bangladesh High commissioner to Nigeria , Mr Shameem Ahsan,who welcomed all to the event said it was specially significant for the people of Bangladesh. He said language is very important and bonds people.

The event which was well attended by envoys from different embassies and their families and friends saw performances from diverse cultures. There was Chan Mali Chan from Malaysia, Gabia Gabia performed by the Indonesian Ambassador and many others.

The Director General National center for arts and culture, Otunba Runsewe stressed the need to respect each others culture and language. According to him if that is done,” there will be less problems in the world”. He presented a card to Mr Ahsan to mark the day.

Recieving the gift, Mr Ahsan thanked Otunba Runsewe for promoting cultural diplomacy.

The event dovetailed into a dinner where Bangladeshi delicacies were sampled.
