For residents of the satellite towns on the Keffi Axis bordering the FCT, the only way to access the FCT where most of them work and transact business is through the Nyanya-Keffi express.
The road has been bedevilled by gridlock for as long as anyone can remember. This is not unconnected to the high cost of rent in the city center where the FCTA just came up with statistics of thousands of houses unoccupied.
Plans to dualize the road has been on since the Obasanjo administration but besides skeletal signs of work which commenced this year, no concrete grounds have been gained in this direction.
Commuters who spoke to our correspondent lamented the fact that they sometimes spend as much as three hours on the road and get to the office already spent and frustrated.
A lady who spoke on condition of anonymity said she had tried reaching her office but nobody was taking her calls because they were already fed up of her frequent calls to report being stuck in traffic. She said she was considering the option of resignation already.
Oke ,a driver who plus the road said the road ” is unpredictable, some days you can’t even tell what causes the holdup “.
They all agreed to the fact that dualizing the road will ease traffic and increase the productivity of the thousands of people whose lifespan is threatened by the untold hardship they pass through to get to work?
