Governors of the 36 states have asked the Federal government to suspend the infectious disease bill.
The Governors, who expressed their discomfort with the bill at the 8th COVID-19 teleconference of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF),Wednesday, also said that they were not consulted on the Bill despite being at the forefront of efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
NGF’s spokesman, Abdulrazague Bello-Barkindo , in a statement, said the forum therefore resolved that the Bill should be stepped down until proper consultation has been made, including a public hearing to gather public opinion and concerns.”
