The Nigerian broadcasting Corporation has suspended Channels television with a fine of 5 million naira for allowing an IPOB Leader make what it described as secessionist comments on its show.
A letter signed by the acting DG of NBC Prof Armstrong Idachaba cited Channels 7 pm live broadcast of Sunday 25th April 2021 in which an IPOB leader made comments that are ‘inciting’ without caution or reprimand in keeping with the broadcast code.
It also accused the IPOB leader of making derogatory, false and misleading statements about the Nigerian Army.
The IPOB, indigenous people of Biafra had been proscribed in Nigeria.
