Betty White @ 100: St Olaf’s Ambassador to Heaven_Ada Nkong

Ever met someone you never knew and that chance meeting gave you a life long friendship? That was what happened to me that day at the market.

At the time I was pretty low on cash, peace and joy but I did try all I could to ensure there was laughter in my home so I would squeeze scarce funds to buy season movies the kids and I could enjoy. The vendor didn’t have the series we were watching but he had the Golden Girls , so much of it and persuaded me to buy some. I reluctantly bought some because he gave me at a bargain and that is how the kids and I met Betty White.

For several years she made my kids and I laugh, we tried to get more episodes but here in Nigeria, the Golden Girls are not really an item so you can’t find the episodes in shops.

Betty White as Rose Nylund was to me a reassurance that naivety and simplicity could be charming and getting to read about her many kind and humanitarian acts in real life, I have come to the conclusion that only Betty White could have been the character Rose so successfully.

I anticipated her 100th birthday yesterday and was part of the countdown but typical Rose 🌹 she took that trip to heaven with an innocent “oh ,it is important I tell the others what you all are planning for my birthday” and arrived heaven with a back in St Olaf story for Dorothy,Blanche and Sophia.

In the next few days ,I am going to do what I started the eve of her birthday, watch as much of her movies as I can and be thankful for all the joy she gave humanity and animals.

Happy 100th in glory Betty White, you get a 🌹.
