Aviation Stakeholders Brain Storm on Automation,Ada Nkong

In a bid to enlighten aviation workers about the need to embrace innovation and technology, the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council, JCNC in collaboration with the ministry of aviation, held a North Central stakeholders sensitization conference in Abuja with the theme: workers as strategic partners in driving the automation process and personnel management system in the aviation sector”.

Dignataries in attendance include the permanent secretary ministry of aviation, Mr Abel Enitan, Rector, Nigerian college of aviation technology NCAT, Capt. Alkali Modibbo and his management team as well as leaders of the various aviation unions .

The permanent secretary represented by Alhaji Shehu Dogo Muhammad , Director Human Relations, in his speech, harped on the need to maintain a synergy with the unions recognizing their crucial role in the actualization of plans and policies of the aviation ministry. He reminded the unions of the need to always imbibe the spirit of dialogue in their engagements.

In his welcome address, the chairman JCNC Comrade Hector Nnadi appreciated the Rector NCAT ,Capt Modibbo for identifying with the union and called on other CEOs to take a cue and attend union events as this will bring them closer to the workers. He also emphasized the need to be pro active , open minded and embrace the change which automation will bring in the interest of the sector while assuring the workers of their relevance in the sector.

” We are strategic partners, as long as you are a worker you are very pivotal in driving this policy, that is the new norm in the world today”.

“Aviation unions have moved on from the era of protests to that if assisting the system. Our job is not just our welfare but to make sure that the system survives”.

He gave assurance that most of the fears preventing workers from keying into the idea of 5G which he described as an improvement on what exists already were unfounded.

Nnadi appreciated the resource persons for making themselves available to enlighten the workers at the different regions the program has held so far.

Presenting a paper at the conference, Mr Edward Rotimi an academia from University of Abuja reminded participants that change is constant and urged them to embrace the new industrial revolution, 5 G.

Other speakers hammered on the benefits of keying into automation which they said would not only ensure privacy and confidentiality of information but would also make sure only the right persons can access workers information.
