

The people of Daura ,Saturday honored the Minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi with a title Dan Amanar Daura .
The turbaning, was a colorful ceremony well attended by dignataries ,traditional rulers from across the country and a delegation from the President , Muhamadu Buhari who had in a statement earlier described the conferment of the title of “Dan Amana” (the trusted one) on Amaechi as a clear commitment to the harmonious relationship between the nation’s diversity and culture.

He applauded Amaechi for his hard work in developing the transport sector by “ working with enormous energy to make the change we promised Nigerians a reality,” adding that “the change we are witnessing in the transport sector is an extraordinary legacy.”
The President’s delegation consisted of the Minister of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu, and his aviation counterpart, Senator Hadi Sirika, as well as the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), Garba Shehu.

The Emir of Daura. Faruk Umar said the title was conferred on the Minister in recognition of his contribution to the development of Nigeria and Daura.
“I would like to remind you that the good things the minister brought to this emirate are countless but we have seen the University of Transport Technology that he has sited here, we have seen the railway that has been sited here to Niger Republic.”
He further said the Minister deserved the title and did not offer any inducement to get it.
“We are Muslims and our religion allows us to respect those who respect us. If I turban anyone, it is not because he gave us money or we want something from that person, we turban people irrespective of their religion or tribe. You are living witnesses that we have turbaned a lot of people in this country and even beyond. You know that we don’t do what we do for monetary gain,”
