Mixed reactions have continued to trail the out come of the inquest carried out on late Sylvester Oromoni.

while some are relieved that the five children would be vindicated, some still think the suspects are guilty in some way.

The Dowen 5 Deserve Justice

The more I see the silly comments on my post the more I realize how stupidity has eaten deep into the fabric of our nation Nigeria

1. A boy was ill in boarding school and the school alerted his parents to pick him up
2. The parents send a family friend to pick him up and instructs him not to take the boy to the hospital (the family friend stated this in court by himself)
3. The boy goes back to school to pick up his personal effects two days after he left school, obviously he wasn’t that ill at the time
4. The family friend confirms that the boy had no physical wounds that suggested beating or bullying and the boys lips weren’t injured or peeling at the time he was picked up from school
5. The boy is taken to Warri by road and treated from home rather than being taken to a hospital (again the Oromoni family doctor stated this in court himself)
6. The boys family attends a church that dissuades or maybe forbids it’s members from going to hospital and encourages or maybe insists that they use the church doctor if they need medical care
7. The boy is then said to have confessed to being bullied, beaten and given a poisonous substance to consume by 5 students, confession was done the eve of his death according to the story)
8. 2 of the 5 boys whose names were supposedly mentioned are day students while one is a weekly border and couldn’t have been in school the weekend before the boy took ill
9. The father of the boy said his son never played football but his school mates who played football with him have confessed to playing football with him
10. The internet is flooded with videos of the boy in serious pain and naturally public sympathy follows
11. BUT WE NEVER GET TO SEE THE VIDEO OF THE BOYS CONFESSION
12. There’s even a posthumous birthday celebration by the immediate family of the boy just a few days after the boy passed away
13. 5 minors/teenagers are paraded on social media as murderers without even being tried, they’re arrested and remanded for a crime with no proof (a lot of us can’t stay in cell for a day but are happy that innocent children were detained for 2weeks)
14. An autopsy is done followed by a coroners inquest which the family of the boy deliberately attempt to thwart by making trivial excuses

At this point my anger is with the family of the accused children, AT WHAT POINT WILL THEY STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR THEIR CHILDRENS RIGHTS? Why have the families of these children allowed themselves to be BULLIED INTO SILENCE BY THE MOB?

Who will fight for these kids whose rights have been so badly trampled upon while adults play games and trade words for some airtime in the media?

I’m really angry at how you lot have refused to follow the logical thought process on this issue. BULLYING is wrong from either party and bullying doesn’t become right simply because the 5 accused children haven’t found their voices or someone to scream on their behalf

They deserve justice to enable them heal, the trauma that they must be going through currently cannot be ignored
