As we celebrate this year’s international women’s day, I took time out to ponder on why the bias continues despite lots of advocacy and Sensitization and the answer comes in a flash ‘ because women don’t want to rock the boat’.
I myself have been guilty of letting it slide in many areas of my life and had to live with the consequences of not rocking that boat early enough.
Considering the theme ‘ break the bias’ and trying to figure out how to achieve that within my space, again it comes to me in a flash ‘ refuse to settle, rock the boat’.
When you are stereotyped be it at home, work or the market, rock the boat! In the face of intimidation, rock the boat’. When gender violence states you in the face, break the silence and rock the boat’. When doors are closed against you just because you are a woman ♀️, keep banging , rock that boat.
Obviously we stoop to conquer hasn’t solved this gender bias issue over the years so just maybe defiance will.
So to all the women out there happy International women’s day, let’s break the bias’ , just rock the boat!
