The Nigerian Senior Citizens Center is poised to partner NAPTIP to prevent,respond rescue and remedy older persons in case of Abuse.
The DG NSCC , Dr Emem Omokaro made this known during a courtesy visit to the DG NAPTIP, Dr Fatima Waziri-Azi.
According to the DG, this will be achieved through utilization of NAPTIP’s existing statewide structures and the Mainstreaming of NSCC’s Community Response Mechanism in ensuring that the abuse of Older Persons is quickly reported and dealt with expeditiously.
She further said It will be achieved through NSCC’s deployment of NAPTIP’S dedicated toll free lines to report cases of violence (07030000203, 0800-CALLNAPTIP) and for MTN 627 and *627#. Other avenues include, Rapid Response Squad and NAPTIP Taskforce available in twenty-nine states of the Federation.
Both agencies also pledged to sensitize communities against elder abuse and report same among other steps to be taken.
