Following a video that surfaced online yesterday showing Victims of the Kaduna Train Attack that took place in March 2022 being flogged mercilessly by their captors , family members of the Victims have blocked the entrance to the Ministry of Transportation in Abuja, crying and calling out for government Intervention.
A woman who said her daughter and granddaughter are part of the Victims lamented their helplessness as the amount being demanded as ransom by the captors is way beyond what she can afford. She called on government to please help them act fast before their loved ones are eliminated.
A man , Ahmed Ibrahim Aruwa who spoke to journalists said one hundred million naira each was being demanded for the 44 Victims still in custody. According to him while pointing at other family members of Victims, ” look at these persons here, do they look like they can afford one hundred million”?
He said they choose to come to ministry of Transportation because it is the ministry directly in charge of the trains where their loved ones were captured.
Other members of the group who registered their plea also made it known that they had no intention of leaving the ministry until something is done to rescue their loved ones.
As at ten thirty am when this report was done, staff of the ministry were unable to gain access and no senior official of the ministry had addressed the group.
