Federal Science College Plays Host to National Alumni, Restates Commitment to Upholding Honor_Ada Nkong

The Principal Federal Science College Ogoja, Mr Famuyibo says the school is upholding it’s glory in academics, sports and discipline.

Mr Famuyibo made this known while receiving members of the national alumni during their grand reunion of all sets in the school. According to him, the school results both in internal and external examinations have never dropped below 70.

According to Famuyibo, “Even when the world experienced covid 19,our WAEC and NECO results are still above average”.

” Performances in external competitions have been commendable.

“All these have contributed to the increase in students Population”.

Addressing the students, the National Alumni President Mr John Otogbo tasked the students on studying and paying attention to the school rules and regulations. He reminisced on how they spent several hours in their days studying and the brilliant performances recorded in competitions and examinations. He challenged the best physics student to a brain drill in physics.

The pioneer Head girl of the school Mrs Francisca Ogar, spoke to the students on the need to adhere to the school instructions and warned against bullying and fagging. She adviced the students to leverage on the opportunity of studying together to build a long lasting socal capital.She also appealed to the school management to ensure proper nutrition for the students.

The students treated the ex-students to cultural dances and a welcome song by the school band.

An ex-student Dr. David Edem Ushie who gave a talk on cancer and its prevention and treatment stressed the fact that early detection and treatment makes the difference after which he answered questions from the audience.

The alumni, represented by Rev.Fr. Emmanuel Ukwa, presented sets of classroom desks and chairs to the principal, accompanied by the VP. student affairs, Mrs Agba, Mr. Obeta and other staff of the college.

High point of the event was a rendition of the school anthem by the Alumni and the staff and students of the college. This was followed by group photographs and a tour of the college by the ex-students.

The evening was eventful with a gala night and awards ceremony where deserving members of the alumni and the pioneer principal, Mr Joseph Essien of blessed memory were presented with awards.

The cutting of the cake was done by the principal, vice principal and the executive. Members of the Alumni.
