The Nigeria broadcasting commission NBC, has revoked the broadcast licenses of Africa independent television,AIT, raypower FM, Silver bird television, We FM Rivers state broadcasting corporation and 48 others including government owned stations.
The Director general of NBC Balarebe Ilelah stated this at a media briefing in Abuja.
The NBC says the decision to revoke their licences comes after series of reminders for them to pay their outstanding debts, which contravenes the National Broadcasting Commission Act CAP N11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Elelah says, after due consideration, NBC revokes their licenses and gives them 24 hours to shut down their operations. “Our offices nationwide are hereby directed to collaborate with security agencies to ensure immediate compliance”.
