Senator Jarigbe Agom One Year in Office: Performance Audit_Ada Nkong

In an era where people elected to public office to serve the people have turned round in some instances to be the albatross of their people,it is surprising and intriguing to see the accolades being poured on Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as he marks one year in office as the Senator representing the good people of Cross River North senatorial district on the red chambers.

Given the long and almost endless battle that almost resulted in a denied mandate and the funds that must have gone into such, many people would have forgiven him or at the very least understood of he had chosen to take time out to recoup energy and resources before seeing to the affairs of his people as has been the norm . On the contrary, he hit the ground running and has delivered projects back to back right from day one to virtually every community under his jurisdiction.

Some of the projects delivered as documented include but are not limited to:

September 15th, 2021, is an auspicious day for Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the Senator Representing Cross River North Senatorial District and the good people of Cross River North.

His first year in the Nigerian Senate was the greatest year of Infrastructural and human capital development in the history of Cross River North Senatorial District. Lives were changed, cries were heard, and prayers were answered. Indeed, his emergence as Senator last year was a fitting denouement to an episodic political journey which began two decades ago.

In fact, at a time when it was generally believed that one has to be lowbrow, an incorrigible liar and a bit a murderer to be a politician, Senator Jarigbe ventured into politics to improve lives yet, bucked at seeing people sacrificed or slaughtered for the sake of his ambition. It is a reason his life offers interminable lessons on the beauty and benefits of resolve, compassion, unpretentious generosity, humility as well as political and family values.

His bill seeking the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre, Ogoja has been passed by the Nigerian Senate, awaiting Mr President’s assent, while his bill seeking the establishment of Federal College of Agriculture awaits third reading.

While campaigns for the 2023 elections have not yet kicked off, social media is agog with youths who are calling for his re-election.

While Newsanex congratulates the deserving Senator for his one year in office, may I use this medium to advocate that the Federal Science College Ogoja female hostels be put into consideration for his kind projection as the bathroom and toilet facilities seriously need to be upgraded in the interest of the students, an extension of same to the male hostels too would be in order

Heads or tails, he has another couple of months in office before 2023, we anticipate more good deeds in the senatorial district. Congratulations
