Niger Delta Surveillance Job: Urhobo and Isoko Will Stand on Our Own- Niger-Delta Challengers _Ada Nkong

Engr Tina onojeghuo the coordinator of the Niger Delta Challengers has said 80 percent of the oil and gas fields in Delta State belongs to the Urhobos and Isokos

In a statement made available to our correspondent, Engr. Onojeghuo expressed satisfaction with the work done by the DSS and expressed the willingness of the group to support the work being done.

The Challengers are the Ex Militant who say the Urhobo and Isoko in Delta State owns the 80% of oil and gas fields in Delta State.

According to her “the Urhobo would also be economically viable because of its resource potentials, contiguous territory which traverses land and coastal areas, as well as cultural homogeneity”.

“Urhobo & Isoko land has 17 oil and gas fields with over 525 oil wells. As of now, it has over 15 per cent of the Natural Gas reserves. It has the largest Gas Plant, Utorogu Gas Plant, in Africa South of the Sahara at Otu-Jeremi.
It has more than two gas fired electricity plants at Ughelli and Sapele”.

Engr.. Onojeghuo listed other mineral resources in the Urhobos area to be Sand, Silica, Kaolin, Clay, Byrite and forest resources such as Timber, Oil palm and Raffia Palm.
She said Urhobo nation has 8 rivers with access to the Atlantic Ocean; two seaports at Warri and Sapele; 30 sites for river ports; one airport at Osubi for local and international flights.

“In Urhobo land, we have one refinery, one Petrochemical plant, Nigerian Gas Company, one steel plant, Salt Refining Company and some industrial clusters”.

She further said the Urhobos have over 400 oil wells and 12 oil and Gas fields , while the Isokos have 125 oil well and 5 oil and Gas field.

“This is what we have and all these oil well and field were transported through pipeline to the deep water were the pipeline pass through the Ijaw and the Calabari to Forcados, Escravose and Bonny Terminal for marketing”.

She called on the Ijaws and the Itserkiris to tell the federal government of nigeria what they have in Delta State.
