
… Reemphasize his commitment to expanding Technology in Eket Senatorial District
The Labour Party candidate for Akwa Ibom South senatorial district, Mr Dominic Essien has called on the electorates to think beyond party lines in recruiting the next set of leaders, noting that it was time the electorates start electing leaders with a human face, as hunger and the dwindling economy rocking the nation has no political party.

Mr Essien made the call in Urue-Offong/Oruko when stakeholders of New Nigeria Peoples Party, All Progressive Congress and the Labour Party in Urue-Offong Oruko local government area unanimously adopted his candidacy as their preferred senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom South senatorial district come 2023.

Speaking on his candidacy, the Labour Party candidate maintained that the senatorial job is a top legislative duty which requires vibrancy, integrity and the ability to galvanise corporate world experience into more reformed legislation through a well-thought-out legislative engagement to better the economic and social lives of the people.

“Senate is a top job and it needs a brighter and more vibrant personality and that’s why I have presented myself, give me the opportunity to raise the standard of leadership, some of you might not see the sacrifice today, but it will be visible in your children which I seek to give a chance to grow and be useful by empowering them to do new and profitable things …”
Reflecting on the dwindling nature of Nigeria’s economy, Mr Essien stressed that the economy doesn’t require dormancy but strategic ideas to make it work and this could be achieved when the electorate elects competent individuals and not those who are seeking sabbatical in the hallowed chamber.
The Labour Party candidate also reemphasize his commitment towards supporting and expanding technological development in the senatorial district while ensuring appropriate legislative engagement was made visible to enable better growth in the sector.
The leading senatorial candidate further commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the new Electoral Act 2022, which he said will curtail electoral malpractices and further give the electorate trust in the country’s electoral system.
Mr Essien further pointed up the need for women and youths to utilize their voting strength positively to reposition the current leadership deficiency plaguing the nation by ensuring the collective good of Nigerians is prioritised by looking beyond party affiliation, religion or ethnic nationality, hence, sort for candidates with credibility, competency, capacity and commitment against “Greek Gifting”
Speaking on Mr Essien’s adoption, Hon. Paul Ekpesu, Chapter Chairman of APC,Urue-Offong Oruko, Bright Uya, member, NNPP and Coordinator, Udoedeghe Support Group in URUE-OFFONG ORUKO LGA, Mr Usoyo Joshua, former councillors of Urue-Offong Oruko local government area like Hon. Esu Bassey, Hon. Ukpong Asuquo and a host of other reputable constituents of the extraction stated that it was imperative for them to go beyond party affiliation to ensure the right leadership is visible for their children’s future and the senatorial district at large.

The former Vice Chairman of Urue Offong/ Oruko local government area, Elder Bassey Esin emphasized that it is the turn of IKOT ABASI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY to produce a Senator who must come from MKPAT ENIN Local Government Area.
Hence, the need to queue behind Dominic Essien’s candidacy as he remains the best for the area due to his intellectual prowess, integrity, exposure and vibrancy. He Stated that
6 or 7yrs ago without being in a political office, Dominic touched many lives. So, if he is given the opportunity, he will diffinitely touch many more lives.
As an APC STALWART in URUE OFFONG ORUKO Elder Bassey stated further that he was fully persuaded that the 2023 election will not be decided along Party lines but,that individuals will vote based on the people who have the capacity to deliver on their promises after the election and,that he knows that Dominic Essien will not forget his voters in the Senatorial District(AKEM NDIEN). Elder Bassey further noted that his support for Mr Essien was solely based on his personality and strength of positive character.
“I am not in his party but I support him, we must learn to produce people who when they win the election must remember to touch lives from their area. I and all those who are working for me and believe in me will also support him and vote for him, right now people must play the politics that will benefit their people and not play the politics just for their belly infrastructure. I play the politics that will benefit my people and, not the politics of belly infrastructure, I am calling on the good people of Urue-Offong/Oruko local government area to support Dominic Essien because he will touch our lives positively when he is given the mandate, also we need a vibrant young man like Dominic Essien”.
Mr Victor Eyeninge, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party in Urue-Offong/Oruko who also spoke at the gathering in support of Dominic Essien noted that Nigerians needed to look beyond party sentiment if the nation seeks to attain a positive trajectory in the leadership system.
