
Ondo state has been chosen as the focal point for the 2022 Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit. The Chairman Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa,made this known in a pre-event press briefing Wednesday in Abuja.
Dabiri-Erewa who lauded diaspora remittances which she said contribute immensely to the GDP , reeled out the gains from previous submit which include several.
The theme for this year’s NDIS is “Optimizing Investment Opportunities for National Development” and is set to hold at the State House Banquet Hall, from Tuesday 15th to Wednesday 17th November 2022 from 8am to 6 pm daily.
Speaking on the decision to choose a state as focal point each year going forward, the Chairman said “these investments are going to the grassroots therefore there is a need to decentralize the concept so as to optimize it to target the right investments”, she further said the theme for Ondo is “Develop Ondo 2.0: Hub of Investment Opportunities”. adding that going forward, the summit will be focusing on states, who will showcase their investment opportunities and incentives to the participants.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN GCON, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the event will present the Keynote Speech.
Primary sectors in focus include agribusiness, technology, education, healthcare, real estate and infrastructure. Others are creative, sports and entertainment; energy, mining and manufacturing.
She said high-profile guests expected to attend the summit include Amb. Zubairu Dada, Hon. Min. Of State for Foreign Affars; Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN; Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Governor of Kebbi State; Alhaji Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State; Mr Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State; Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Mr Babatunde Fashola SAN, Honourable Minister for Works and Housing among others.
This 5th diaspora summit like the others according to her is aimed at directing diaspora investment inwards as a means of increasing involvement and investments back home in Nigeria.
