FG to Deliver Second Abuja Runway Before May 29 2023_Ada Nkong

The Federal Government has promised to deliver the second Abuja runway before the end of this administration.

The minister of aviation Sen Hadi Sirika said this during an oversight visit by both aviation commitees of the national assembly and the house committee on FCT to the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport.

The oversight  visit which had members of Senate and house committees on aviation as well as the comittee on FCT started off with an inspection of the new cargo terminal. Thereafter, they proceeded to inspect the site for the second runway which is expected to be the longest runway in Africa when completed and will span 4.2 kilometers.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, the minister said with steady funding of the project,the second runway would be commissioned by this administration before May 29 2023.

The Senate and house committee chairmen on aviation expressed delight at the project which they said has been pending for long and when completed will come with additional facilities at the Airport.

The committee on FCT chairman said compensation for affected indigenes will be provided for in the budget to ensure peace and cooperation of indigenes for seamless construction.
