Former Director General of the national center for women development,Barr Mary Ekpere-Eta has emerged victorious at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Court has nullified the election of the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly,, Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Cross River Central Senatorial District and ordered a rerun primary election within the next fourteen days.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed nullified the election while ruling on the pre election matter brought by the former director general of women centre Mary Ekpere-Eta seeking the court to void the primary election that produced Rt hon. Williams
The suit was filed following the outcome of the May, 2022, primary election in the Ikom Township Stadium, Ikom, Cross River State with many dissatisfied with the outcome of the election as a result challenged the outcome in court on the on grounds of legality of the primary election.
The court nullified the election in totality and ordered for fresh election with 14 days
