With the 2023 presidential election around the corner, a Policy Analyst, Mr Akor Otobo, calls on Governor Wike and his G-5 to allow reason prevail in Nigeria political scene. Mr Otobo also demands that the G-5 listen and heed to political wisdom, calls and appeals from several political fathers and mentors to create room for peaceful political conformity.
Speaking exclusively to our correspondent, Mr Otobo said the political egocentricism of Mr Wike has been overtaken by political facts in the country. According to him, Dr Iyorchia Ayu is not from Northern Nigeria nor the same geopolitical zone with the Waziri of Adamawa, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.
He says Wike, out of political myopicism generates notice that there is only one region in Northern Nigeria, “typically as their forefathers gave shallow stories to the children that Northern Nigeria was an Islamic enclave, after crossing Ibo and Upper Yoruba of Ilorin Emirates”.
“Wike should know that Benue province was integral mark of Middle Belt or Central Nigeria and is still a distinct entity of Northern Nigeria, therefore are the citizens of Middle belt not entitled to political independence and allocations as they the minority Rivers that the same Benue people liberated from South Eastern operations in 1966-70?”
Otobo further said Nigeria had four regions of North, East, West, Middle belt and minority Midwestern which metamorphosed to South South states today. He therefore questions how Wike will ask Dr Iyorchia Ayu to step down, in quest of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
According to him,Wike who is clamouring for Rivers Independence and resource allocation is happy to see that APC robs Middle belt to give both Executive President and Senate President to Northern West and East ,and Vice president and Speaker to Yoruba without loss to Central Nigeria.
” It is unfortunate that Ortom followed Wike’s political pauperism”.
Otobo expressed dismay that the struggle of Senator Saraki to maintain political equalism in the country was lost because of political avarice to robb and deny Middle belters of their rights and political allocation.
He challenges Wike to tell the world if Adamawa in North East is same as Benue in Middle or Central region.
“In deciding political allocation, the grid talks of Nigeria into South Western region, Eastern region, South South region and formalise North Central or Middle into one Northern Nigeria that they don’t know states of Middle or central Nigeria, Wike should tell Nigerians his personal grouse against Dr Iyorchia Ayu and not camouflage in the politics of Northernism”.
Otobo further accused Ortom of using the politics of allocation to cover his dried and empty performance in Benue state for Eight years.
According to him,definitely if PDP wins, they will restructure the party’s political offices as many Officers will assume Executive duties and Party Chairman can go to Southern Region.
He therefore called on the G- 5 Givernors to allow reason to prevail in the country and thereby let Nigerians experience free democratic government.
