Nollywood’s Alex Ekubo has continued to make headlines following the series of events that have led to a second public break up with his ex fiancé Fancy Acholonu.
The duo announced their engagement in May 2021 and garnered publicity for their wedding which was slated to hold in November of that same year.
Fancy however called of the engagement in August 2021 without citing any reasons for calling off the wedding leading to speculations about what might have caused the rift in their relationship.
The two stayed out of the public eye until One year later, when the model made a U-turn. In an Instagram post-Thursday, the 29-year-old model publicly apologised to her ex-fiancé for calling off the wedding and humiliating him and his family.
Sharing a picture of them “As our shirt says, Nothing makes sense when we’re apart @alexxekubo. You still have my heart. I miss you, I love you, and I’m truly sorry for all the hurt & pain you and your family went through with our break up.”
“My actions in handling things were out of character. I should have controlled my emotions and not been so overreactive. I said too much; I did too much. Please forgive me; I’ve learned my lesson on how to handle situations better.”
In her last line, she pleaded to get back with the actor as being away has caused much pain. “I haven’t expressed myself properly. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable and say you, your family, & friends still mean the world to me. Losing you has felt like grief. Love heals #FalexxForever.” She wrote.
Ekubo reacted to the apology with a comment which read, “I appreciate the apology. May God bless us all.”
The post has since been deleted.
In an unexpected turn of events, Acholonu took to Instagram on Monday to declare that she is “free” and that “the chain is broken.”
Answering questions in the comment section, Fancy claimed that the actor made her write the apology in order to savage his public image.
In an interview with with popular blogger, Stella Dimoko-Korkus, Fancy revealed that she broke up with him because he refused to be intimate with her for five years whilst continuously cheating on her with curvy women.
According to Fancy, she and Alexx had wanted to reconcile but he wanted something public as opposed to private which she preferred. She added that he wanted a public apology and their grand wedding which was in the works before their breakup.
Speaking on speculations about the actors sexuality, she said;
“I can’t confirm or deny his sexuality, but for me, I loved him despite everything, and he still found ways to hurt me. And when he would cheat with curvy women, he wouldn’t perform with them either, so I don’t know,” She said.
“His sexuality is not the reason I broke up with him. I’m very open-minded, so regardless of his preference, love is love for me. I loved him for his personality and heart, nothing more,” the Los Angeles city college Business Administration and Management graduate noted.
According to Fancy, when she and Alexx first met, she did not have a lot of experience and it was easy for him to use religion to convince her. However, she caught him cheating constantly and it would hurt her because it was not part of the religion he gave as a reason for their celibacy.
