
As emerging technology and digitization reshapes the world and work practices in most industries,the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council aviation is taking the responsibility of adapting to these changes and redefining the modus operandi of their members via sensitization in other to avoid redundancy and expand their abilities to ensure that they remain useful to their organizations.

Speaking at the opening of the JCNC’s workers and stakeholders Sensitization conference in the six geopolitical zones, the joint Chairman of JCNC Aviation Comrade Hector Nnadi stated that the days when the relationship between Unions and Employers was strictly adversarial were long gone and it was now imperative for Unions to look out for their members and ensure that they thrive in the new world order.
It is for this reason that the sensitization conference was tagged “Effective service delivery in the aviation sector through automation of personnel management system”

Outlining the JCNC’s plans for 2023 he said;
“This is not the first time we are hosting this program, the first time was last year and the theme was: workers as strategic partners to the automation of personnel management systems in the aviation industry. Our role is not just to agitate…our role is to add value to the system and that’s what we are doing. This is one of the programs of JCNC and we have other programs like aviation week which has been ongoing for the last ten years with different themes, The JCNC has evolved overtime to add value to the industry. We don’t want to continue on the lane of agitation and protests we want to see that this industry survives and how will it survive without our workers? We are ensuring that our workers grow along as the industry survives”.

Speaking on the national carrier Comrade Nnadi commended the honorable minister of aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika for his determination to see the project through and pledged the unwavering support of the JCNC ,stating that the union’s position on the matter was that it was a great need for the according to him ” anyone working against the national carrier is an enemy of the union and the country”.
The conference featured a lecture on the “ Management & Labor partnership: A recipe for aviation industry growth” Delivered by Godson from the national ministry of labor and productivity.

The director human resources Mrs Nwokoda Nkedi who represented the Minister of aviation commended the JCNC for the initiative. She said the Conference was extremely informative and a brilliant initiative by the JCNC and urged all aviation workers to embrace ICT skills and make efforts to acquire them.
The JCNC secretary, Comrade Abubakar Sadiq said staff need programs like this to know what is trending and understand what is required of them. He added that if automation is adopted side by side with performance management system as a concept , Nigeria would go places.
A participant Okoh Patience said it was a wonderful idea and encouraged other unions in the civil to emulate the workshop. According to her, the workshop had inspired her to think outside the box and get a wider scope of her job description.
