The need to carry out capacity building and skills acquisition programs for the youth of Cross River state has been reiterated.
Chief Hart Modey made the call in an exclusive interview with our Correspondent. According to him, this is very crucial given the number of young persons without concrete jobs or means of livelihood in the state as a result of which many have turned to political appointments as a means of livelihood which he says is not sustainable.
The PDP Stalwart lamented that though the numerous appointments given to young persons by the outgoing administration which has been described by some as food on the table served the purpose temporarily, not all appointees were smart enough to invest in themselves and improve on their CVs.
He further lamented the increased rate of crime in the state which he said is a function of unemployment and poverty.
Chief Modey called on the incoming administration to strategize and come up with long term capacity building programs including. scholarships and grants which will empower the youths for a life time.
He also seized the opportunity to congratulate the incoming governor of the state, Prince Bassey Otu and his deputy Hon. Peter Odinga on their presentation of certificates of return and expressed hope that they would do all in their power to justify the people’s mandate and turn around the fortunes of the state through an all inclusive government.
