Following the fighting in Sudan which has left thousands of foreign nationals stranded, the Nigerian embassy in Ethiopia says about 2500 Nigerian Students have sought refuge in it’s border towns.
In a letter to the ministry of foreign affairs of Ethiopia, the embassy said the students are stranded at the border towns of Galabat and Meteme without valid entry visas.
It called on the Ethiopian government to in line with “international humanitarian law and the cordial relationship between our two countries”, initiate urgent intervention and facilitate humanitarian safe passage for the stranded Nigerian Students.
