Governorship election petition: Group calls for neutrality among tribunal members in Nasarawa_David Okpashi

****Kick against government hosting judges in it’s facility

AS the governorship election tribunal commenced seating in Nasarawa state, a group under the umbrella of ‘Coalition for justice’ has called on the tribunal members to show neutral in it’s assignment in the state devoid of government patronage.

The group who stated this in Lafia Tuesday during a peaceful protest demanded for neutrality from the tribunal to give the people of the state the confidence and hope that justice would be delivered in Nasarawa.

According to the leader of the coalition for justice, James A Allu alleged that information obtained by the group has shown the state government move to manipulate the tribunal as well influence the members ahead the judgement adding that accepting the use of the state government facilities (Hotel) was already leaving the people with doubts that the tribunal was on the way to compromise.

“We are already aware of how the government have been working tirelessly to influence the judges using some of the retired Justices to to influence”.

“We however believed that the jurist consider their track records will not put their hard earned reputation atstake by falling pray to the perceived movements and attempts being made to influence their judgement in Nasarawa”.

The coalition who claimed to be aware of several attempts to duplicate the INEC certified results legally given to the opposition PDP by the state INEC, and attempts to confuse the tribunal in their judgement, called on all involved to stay away from as such attempts would be resisted.

“We wish to notify all involved to stay away any attempt to temper with justice as it will only amount further denting the already challenging image the state is already placed before the international communities”.

“We wish to state that despite risk to personal safety we shall continue to fight injustice and impunity to defend our land. We desire to have a society of equity and not oppression”,

” Our Protest is not about us, it is about our communities. We hereby called on INEC to commit themselves to justice. We call on the Judiciary to dispense justice and all organizations involved to to ensure that Nasarawa state is not mortgaged further”, the group stated .

“We shall adopt every modern strategy to ensure equity, fairness and justice is attained. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We want to state that we are caught in an inestimable network of sympathy tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affect one community directly affect all”, the group declared.
