“Am using this medium to appeal and plead with HE Senator Prince Bassey Otu, the executive governor of Cross River State not to abandon the Calabar seaport due to the enormous economic impact and benefit of this laudable Project to the good people of the State, Sir, your Predecessor couldn’t complete this project due to some circumstances best known to him but as our new governor with the desires to consolidate on your Predecessor’s works, please continue with this project Sir”.

“The economic value, benefits, and impacts of Bakassi deep seaport can’t be over-emphasized as it will create about 6000 jobs, allow shippers to import and export products, offering container handling, interfaces in the supply between sea and land transportation component of freight distribution to the internal and external markets”.

Critical stakeholders in the maritime sectors should be brought in now to brainstorm how to take the project to the next level. As a man vested with knowledge of the workings of the maritime sector, I am willing and ready to partner with the government at this moment. It is time to chart a new approach to this project. This project must not be abandoned. The state stands to benefit economically should this project be completed”.
He further said Cross River State can become the economic hub of Nigeria, if the right buttons devoid of sentiment, political interests and self-aggrandizement are pressed .
Chief Modey emphasized that the private sector should be involve in this project too,
He again congratulated Senator Prince Bassey Otu on the beginning of his tenure as governor of Cross River state and wished him a successful administration.
