Tinubu’s Attempt to Clean the Augen Stables – Can He Cross the Rubicon ? _Dr. Fatai Aliu

The ‘ides of March’ are come, ‘the chips are Dawn’. Is president Tinubu prepared to ‘cross the Rubicon’.

Lepidius, ‘look your brother too shall die’; ‘do you consent’, ‘yes I do’. Mark Anthony- ‘your son in-law too shall die’, ‘do you consent’, ‘yes I do’; ‘look’! ‘with a spot, I dam him’.

Similitude of the post Julius ceaser triumvirate, the Nigeria political corruption is on an anti climax were the former ‘epics men’ are fast descending into the abyss. Whether Nigeria will know peace, progress, unity and greatness once again will depend on the ultimate denouement of the present malaise.

No doubt, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is prepared to ‘bell the cat’ in the great crusade of cleaning the ‘Augen Staples’

Cleaning the Augen tables was an Herculean task and so did Hercules handled it. But that was the great Hercules who had the physical power and what it takes to clean the Staples.

In the lingering lacunas, doubts and even the rescent contest in the credibility of elections that will ultimately give further credibility to the government in its exercise of political powers, where really lies the strength to clean the staples by Tinubu?

But His start is daring, His strategies are intimidating and His attitude is fearless. The big question therefore is, does it need more to clean the stables? Your guess is as good as mine.

Those who murdered Ceaser are not on one side of the Rubicon’, they are on both sides. therefore, the possibility of President Tinubu going on a full scale war against the conspirators on the other side of the Rubicon’ River is slim.

Tinubu never and is not prepared to go on a full scale war as did by the triumvirate, more probably because of the inter-mixture of friends and foes carrying the same armoury. When this happens and there is this mixture in marriages on both sides, the will to fight is defeated even before the start of war according to Chinua Achebe.

Then, he chooses to pluck them one by one- Emiefele, EFCC chairman and so on. Who knows the next victim from the other side of the Rubicon’.

But, what of the Casius’s, the Brutus’s, the Casca’s on his own side of the Rubicon’ who were biggest protagonists in the murder of Ceaser? What justice would that amount to? If they are left alone. This leads us to the ultimate question:

Can Emiefele attempts a malicious recolouring of the naira notes without the consent and awareness of the then President, Muhammad Buhari? Can Emiefele use trillions of naira to execute this project without the knowledge of the president? either ways the onus of guilt must be stretched beyond Emiefele to those who seemngly were and are still on TINUBU’s side of the Rubicon’. Whose authorities lies the approval that enabled Emiefele to do his harm to the Nigeria people.

How dare you Tinubu! Can you, dare let history vindicate you
