****urges Nasarawa govt. to pressure FG to reduce Nigerians hardship
Organized Labour in Nasarawa State Wednesday called on the Federal government to reconsider it’s action and find a sustainable means of cushion the effect of the subsidy removal and other hardships being faced by the citizens
Speaking during a peaceful protest in Lafia, NLC Chairman, Comrade . Ismaila Oko, said there was urgent need for the federal government to reconsider it action and provide a more sustainable means of survival given the hardship workers and the masses have been subjected to since the subsidy removal.
According to the NLC Chairman, government should immediately roll out improved lives saving ways for the workers and other citizens to avert things getting out of hands.
“The whole salaries of workers now is being spent on transportation to our offices since May 29, that subsidy removal was announced. Workers can no longer cater for children school fees, feed the family and address other responsibilities,” Oko declared.
On his part, TUC Chairman. Comrade Mohammed Doma, admonished both the federal and state government to act fast to address the increasing hike in the price of petroleum.questioning how can the country produce petroleum and can not afford to pay for a liter of fuel.
“Our salaries cannot take care of our transportation to our offices. We are suffering,” the TUC Chairman lamented
The union which submitted a protest letter to the Head of Civil Service, Abigail Waya called on the state government to role out measures that would impact positively on the citizens of the state.
Receiving the protest letter on behalf of the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, the Head of Civil Service thanked the workers for conducting themselves peacefully through out the match.
Abigail Waya intimated the labour union that already committee to work out sustainable palliative has been constituted by the Nasarawa State Government.
The HOS promised to submit the letter to the governor as well brief him about their issues.
