Transportation: Alkali Assumes Office, Targets Electric Cars to Cushion Subsidy Removal effects

The new Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, accompanied by well wishers, was welcomed to the Ministry by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani and Staff of the Ministry.

In her welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary expressed joy at the Minister’s experience from the National Assembly, and stressed the need to leverage on the Department of Road Transport and Mass Transit to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.

The Minister, on his part, assured the Staff of improved welfare and revealed plans to procure electric cars to ease the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

In attendance was the Vice- Chancellor of the University of Transportation, which was originally billed to take off in September, 2023.
