The next to pay more attention to taxation laws in implementation of taxes in Nigeria has been emphasized.
Prof Ezekiel Williams made the call during the launch of his book The Taxation Pendular at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the secretary to the government of the federation, Senator George Akume represented by Mrs Nko Esuabana permanent secretary political and economic affairs office of the SGF stressed the responsibility of citizens to pay tax as this will enhance provision of infrastructure as well as reduce collection of loans by government to fund projects.

The book reviewers, Dr Justina Okoro and Barr Chukwuemeka Eze applauded the author for the 22 chapter book which they described as having a wide coverage of taxation laws and principles. They said it would go a long way to provide clarity on the issues surrounding taxation in Nigeria.
On his part, the author,Prof Williams expressed optimism that the book would educate citizens on the need for taxation and how to pay taxes which would address issues of non compliance and benefits of payment of taxes .
“If you really have a good machinery in taxes you do not need to borrow money. In an economy, the product of the people’s wealth is a function of the tax they pay.
“You do not need to borrow money to be extravagant, you borrow money for the need of the people and the people’s need is the function of that,” he said
Meanwhile ,former governor of Rivers State and Chairman of the occasion, Celestine Omeiha said government should ensure creation of jobs and enabling environment for businesses to enable citizens have funds for taxes
We are looking at tax, what about the revenue, what are the people going to do to get this money, you want people to pay tax but what are they going to do to raise this money, that is the issue.

High point of the event was the unveiling of the book by the representative of the SGF.
