As a way of marking the International year of the youth and fostering sportsmanship as well as teaching resilience, Team War Against Self Destruction organized a basket ball tournament for youths in the FCT tagged Ball for life
The matches which saw a brilliant display of skills ended with scores , Titans basketball academy @Karu. (45-33) Hill Top Warriors@ Karu while Cliff Ballers. @ Kurudu (30-31) City Stars @Nyanya.
In-between play, the teams listened to a pep talk titled, The Enemy Called You, from the Head Programs, Independent Television Abuja, Francisca Ogar who tasked the players to believe in their ability and arrive to excel in whatever they do . According to her, ” the only person who can stop you from achieving your dreams is you, ignore the naysayers and find ways of taking your game beyond local to national and then International”
The Team lead for WASD, Mr Ojong Bichene Ogar said the motive was to mentor youths and make them rise above limiting factors like environment, peer pressure, addictions and chase positive goals to enable them excel.
