The central bank of Nigeria says both old and new naira notes remain legal tender as long as they were issued by the apex bank.
A tweet on its official X page cited section 20(5) of the CBN act 2007 , saying all banks have been instructed to continue to dispense all denominations of Naira notes
The post also said there is no need to panic as there is adequate supply of Naira notes nation wide.
According to the post, some cities are currently experiencing scarcity as notes are being hoarded in anticipation of a ban on the use of old notes.
