Edo Governorship Election Aspirants: Dr Loretta Ogboro-Okor, a Promise Kept

By Efosa Osagie

I have come to realize in my interactions with people that most people who have a lot to offer, have little or no airs, with them most times what you see is what you get.

For as long as I have known Dr Loretta Ogboro-Okor, each interaction with her unveils the sterling qualities she has, intelligence, humility, genuine concern for her fellow humans, a dogged believer in equity and to cap it all a proud ambassador of Edo state.

Who else would offer free professional consultancy across the globe to a pregnant woman she has never met? All she needed to know was, it is a woman’s in pain and the sisterhood in her rose full force and she consulted free of charge for the duration of that pregnancy.

As a leader that she is at various levels and one with a desire to see a country that works, I have had cause to interview her several times on different topical issues, from the top of her head with short notice she proffers solutions that of actualized would turn the fortunes of Nigeria around.

Talk is cheap, most people would say but if you listened to her at the Labour party telethon during the last general elections where she headed the medical team you would realize that she is an asset to Nigeria and Edo state in particular.

She was appointed a member of the Diaspora Agency Steering Committee by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State. This was a volunteer role where she put her skill and services to use for the good of Edo State citizens.

To see her leave the comfort and security of a well paid employment in the medical field to offer herself for service as governor in Edo state is a promise kept, one that should be gladly activated.

Having Edo blood flowing in her veins, it is a guarantee that the courage and nobility that is desired in a governor is inherent, it is urgent and important that delegates of the labor party recognize her for what she is, the real deal and so the needful to ensure that this epitome of a born leader gets a chance to take Edo state to greater heights.
