Journalists Network for Ageing in Nigeria:NSCC Restates Commitment to Capacity Building for Journalists

The director general, National Senior Citizens Center Dr Emem Omokaro says the center will embark on more training programs for journalists soon as a means of strengthening advocacy for the rights of older persons.

The DG made the assertion while receiving the executive of Journalists Network for Ageing in Nigeria at her office in Abuja.

While outlining the progress of the center so far, Dr Omokaro emphasized the need to educate Nigerians on ageism and the need to harness the potentials of senior citizens which the center is doing already through the various skill based programs for older persons.

Speaking on behalf of JONAN, the chairman, Elder Maxwell Eseigbe assured NSCC of JONANS readiness to work with the center to sustain and improve on the progress made so far in ensuring the rights of older persons are protected.

The JONAN delegation included the Vice chairperson Joy Idam, the Secretary Francisca Ogar, the Financial secretary Hadiza Usman, the FCT NUJ chairman Patrick Osadebamen and PRO Laraba Murray.
