Abuja: Two years nine months after his death, the body of Late Senate President Dr Joseph Wayas has arrived Nigeria for interment
The body was received by his family,Senator Jarigbe Agom,Hon. Peter Akpanke , Sen Eteng Jonah Williams ,Rt Hon Mike Etaba , Johnny Agim SAN ,Dr Dom Cklaimz Enamhe and other prominent people from Cross River State.
His body had remained in a morgue in UK sparking speculations that he had been secretly laid to rest.
The body finally arrived the Nnadi Azikiwe airport Abuja at about 4:30am Wednesday and was taken straight to the morgue at the national hospital Abuja.
Senator Jarigbe Agom representing Cross River North and Hon Peter Akpanke representing obudu,Bekwara Obanlikwu both confirmed that the body they sighted in the casket is indeed that of the late Dr Joseph Wayas and expressed joy that the body had finally been brought home.
The weeping widow of the disease was seen weeping and repeatedly saying welcome home to the remains of her late husband.
His wife Mrs Ishaka Wayas, his daughter Donna Wayas and other family members though grieving expressed relief at the development and appreciated all who had facilated the return.
The leaders of who is who in Northern Cross River State led by Dr Dom Cklaimz Enamhe who were at the fore of the efforts to bring him back also thanked the President, Cross River State governor and all actors who made it possible .
Mr Johnny Agim (SAN) said there was no date for the burial yet since it is a state burial and involves the state governor,Prince Edet Otu and the national assembly..
