(Video,Photos) FGGC Bwari 2024 Graduation: Stakeholders Emphasize Importance of Girl Child Education

Girl child education has been identified as a tool to end early child marriage, domestic abuse and poverty.The director senior secondary education Hajia Binta Abdulkadir made the assertion during the 2024 speech and prize giving day of the college.

The event which saw  395 students ( 154 Science students, 132 Art students and 9 Commercial Students) graduate had in attendance Hajia Binta Abdilkadir, Director Senior Secondary Education, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Gladys Assibi Ibrahim, Director Principal ( host), Hon. Eli Peter Kadanya, Chairman, School Based Management Commitee ( SBMC) who doubled as the representative of the Chairman, Bwari Area Council, Chairman PTA, Mr. HM Dika and his team of Exco, Olori Stella Jinadu, National President, Bwari Old Girls Association ( BOGA), other Special invitees from the Ministry and top Management staff of the college, parents and other well wishers.

In her speech,the Guest Speaker , Hajiya ( Mrs) Amina Buba Haruna, Director AGILE (   Adolescent Girl Initiative for Learning and Empowerment).,  charged the graduands on the need to build on the already laid Educational foundation to impact their world positively, she further urged them to always remember to be guided by the motto of the college ” PRO UNITATE” in all they do and continue to be good ambassadors and unifiers as products of a unity school.

Several awards sponsored by the SBMC, BOGA, PTA, and the college were bagged by both students and teachers in appreciation for their hardwork, dedication and outstanding performances shown.

Highpoint of the event was presentation of prizes including cash,laptops etc to deserving staff and students. Miss. Chiamaka Chioke who won several prizes including best English student and best science student  emerged as the overall best graduating student while Adaobi Okoro won the most improved student . Mr Silas Basila was the best male teacher while Mrs Atinaya Favor was rated best female teacher . Other staff recognized include Mr Abdulkadir Kabiru and Mrs Abdulsalami.

The event also featured the launching and unveiling of the 16th edition of the college Magazine ” The Soaring Stars”  with the Chief Launcher being Hon. Eli Kadanya while members of the high table supported.

The graduating students were inducted into the college Alumni BOGA with  the passing of torch ceremony  by the National President, Olori Stella Jinadu and representatives of all the past set present who presented a sash to the outgoing Head girl.

The Director Principal Mrs Gladys Ibrahim in her speech reassured parents of the schools commitment to fostering an environment of excellence where every student is encouraged to explore their potential. She also highlighted some achievements of the college in the just concluded session.

“This year, our students excelled in academics achieving a 95% pass rate in BECE which has just been released,there were other notable academic accomplishments such as excellence in essay writing competitions,quiz,debates, science competitions among others ”

“Co-curricular achievements include 2nd position in the Nutrition Society of Nigeria interschool debate,1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the essay competition on cancer awareness and 3rd position in the Chevening Science competitions”.

Past Principal of the school Mrs Stella Omu who admitted the graduating batch in JSS 1 expressed joy on their successful completion of their academic pursuit and wished them success in their future studies

” I feel very elated that the girls I admitted in 2018 are leaving and they have made laurels white here I am believing that wherever they go they will keep soaring”.

Best graduating student Miss Chiamaka Chioke who recounted her experience in the school appreciated the school and BOGA for the prizes while pledging to excel in Medicine which is her chosen field of study.

” When I first came to this school I was like am I sure I can continue,I begged my mummy a number of times I wanted to leave ,I was feeling very stressed because I don’t like stress but I decided to continue. Academically everything has been nice, the teachers have been so good  ,they reach very well”.

” I also want to thank God because without him I don’t think I would have been able to get all these prizes today”.

A parent Barr. Chituru Adediran commended the school for the knowledge impacted to the children and for the morals taught to them,she urged them to keep up the good work
