Late Dr Joseph Wayas Burial: We Are Set to Host the World- Obanliku Paramount Ruler

The Burial Committee of Late Dr. Joseph Wayas has commenced preparations for his interment. The committee constituted by Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State was in Sankwala Obanliku Local Government headquarters for on the spot assessment.

The Committee was led by the secretary of the central planning committee  Dom Cklaimz Enamhe and Hon Sylvanus Anyawho, the president of Basang Nation and chairman of contact and Mobilization sub committee, Justice Elias Abua, chairman of Venue and Decorations, the Secretary of the Committee Mrs Ben Akak, Ambassador Dr. Emma Akashie also of venue committee, Secretaries of works and transport sub committees. The team visited Dr. Joseph Wayas’s old resident at Sankwala square and his New site close to the high way where he will be interred.

The committee also proceeded on a courtesy visit to the Paramount Ruler of Obanliku, HRM. Amb.Dr. Uchua Amos Etem in his palace. The leader of the delegation Dom  Cklaimz Enamhe appreciated his Majesty for welcoming him and his team, he called on the royal father to support the committee and provide protection for all the guests that will be in his domain for committee assignments and for the burial proper.

Justice Elias Abua, one of the sub committee chairmen in his remarks appreciated his Majesty for his warm welcome. He went down memory lane to eulogize the convener for working hard with other members for the repatriation of Wayas’s remains to the country. He solicited the cooperation of Obanliku indigenes to enable the committee deliver on their mandate.

He Royal Majesty in his response appreciated the Secretary of the Central Planning Committee and Convener of WWNCR for his zeal and commitment towards the repatriation of our Son and father. ” “I also appreciate his Excellency the Governor of our State for his intervention and determination to give our son a befitting burial”.

  “We were confused with all sorts of stories, some that Wayas was already buried, others that, his remains are still in Uk. But today you have removed that reproach from us. It would have been too shameful to us Obanliku people. We thank God, is over today. At a point Obanliku people were ready to launch an attack on his first son, if not for our civility. Let me therefore assured you on behalf of the entire Obanliku people that we are happy and ready to host the world”. His Royal Majesty affirmed.
