Following widespread reports of the invalidation of National youth service certificates of some 101 University of Calabar students by NYSC, the University management says the fraudulent students were unearthed and reported to NYSC by the School.
In a statement signed by the registrar ,Mr Gabriel Egbe made available to our correspondent by the school Alumni relations officer Dr Dom Cklaimz Enamhe, it was stated that internal sources in the school following a tip off to the school that a student yet to be graduated was serving were mandated to investigate the report by the VC who later shared the information with NYSC .
According to the statement, the officer responsible for data entry Mr Endurance Obi had since been suspended and is under investigation. He further said the ICPC , Ministry of education and the NUC were also written to by the school in connection with the incidence.
The statement said there had been an agreement with NYSC to quietly investigate and apprehend the offenders with a committee set up to that effect which concluded it’s report on the 18th of December.

While assuring the general public of the schools commitment to uphold a high standard of integrity and academic excellence, they called on the NYSC to release its position on the remaining 85 out of the 178 students reported to NYSC by the school .

They also urged the ICPC to share the results of its investigation as seizing the certificates and de-kitting the fraudulent individuals is not sufficient
