The Cross River Indigenes Development Association (CRIDA) wishes to express its unwavering support for the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. Owan Enoh.
A statement signed by Chief Sankara Dickson Unung President, Cross River Indigenes Development Association (CRIDA) says this is in response to the recent calls on social media and other platforms for his suspension following the Nigerian team’s performance at the just-concluded Olympic Games.
According to the group,”we firmly believe that the performance of athletes on the global stage cannot be attributed solely to the Minister of Sports Development. Sen. Owan Enoh has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the success of Nigerian sports by ensuring that all necessary funds and resources were made available to the athletes and their coaches”.
The complexities surrounding international sports competitions require collective efforts, and it is unfair to place the blame on one individual, especially when that individual has fulfilled their responsibilities with diligence and dedication.
Unung further said “such criticism detracts from the numerous positive contributions that Sen. Owan Enoh has made to the development of sports in Nigeria. His tenure has witnessed significant investments in grassroots sports, the revitalization of sports infrastructure, and the promotion of sports as a unifying force in our diverse nation. The entire Cross River community stands firmly behind him, recognizing his efforts and urging all Nigerians to focus on constructive solutions rather than assigning blame”.
According to him, Sen. Owan Enoh’s dedication to the advancement of sports in Nigeria is evident, and the people of Cross River State, proudly stand in his defense. He further stated that Owan Enoh’s leadership and vision have brought about tangible improvements that will benefit future generations of Nigerian athletes.
He said CRIDA remains committed to the progress and development of our nation and will continue to support leaders who demonstrate integrity, commitment, and a passion for service.
