“Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt.
The name DC has always rang a bell for as far back as I could remember.
He was at the center of the social life in Igoli, capital of Ogoja and no conversation around social events in Mary Knoll, Mount Carmel or TOF center had a correct narrative without the mention of his name
Getting to the University of Calabar, one was greeted with another angle to the story . One was asked to study hard to graduate and leave so as not to be like DC who had spent many years,( 5,6 of 10 depending on who was telling the story) without graduating.
Fast forward to the dawn of the millennium. The story of a young politician not financially endowed enough but a force to be reckoned with because of his popularity and signature doggedness began to filter in.His posters were like a puzzle and many wondered how one could go from being a failure to being a leader.
In the years following, as DG of the campaign team of one of Cross River’s outstanding Senator, he led an army of young persons from Cross River North to an election victory not to be forgotten in a hurry.
Just when it seemed he had gone back into his shell, he again emerged this time as convener of an apolitical group that brings together illustrious sons and daughters of the land, (Who is Who in Northern Cross River State) and has grown into a force to be reckoned with and gained the admiration of the Governor Prince Bassey Otu .
From the intervention in the crisis of the Belegete people to mediation in the Ugaga vs Igbekurikor impasse the group led by him and his Co-convener Johnny Agim (SAN) has endeared itself to many.
Most outstanding for the year however is the role he played in the repatriation of the corpse of former Senate President Dr Joseph Wayas from the UK
It is difficult to say what next to expect from him.
Happy birthday to the failure that refused to fail,as he calls himself.
Happy birthday to the man that has gone from serial rustication from school to attaining multiple degrees.
Newsannex celebrates you.
