Ogoja State Creation: I will Leave Nothing to Chance- Godwin Offiono

The member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency Hon. Godwin Offiono has reaffirmed his commitment to the struggle for the creation of Ogoja state.

Hon Offiono who was represented by his senior legislative aide Hon. Dan Ugbama made the assertion during a parley with members of Ogoja State Forum in Abuja.

He said as a member of the committee on state creation, he will leave nothing to chance as the merits of the state are obvious adding that it is a responsibility on everyone to ensure that state lobbying is done.

While stressing the need as the house resumes for everyone who matters to be approached, he added that preparations must start now for the bill not to die at second reading.

Earlier in his opening speech, the convener of the meeting Dr Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe  noted that Governor Bassey Otu  has given assurance that he is behind the group’s aspirations but there is a need to continue to explore every avenue to speak out .

“We still need to speak out though all our  legislators are in support”.



Also speaking at the meeting, Chief Peter ojie. expressed optimism that it is  achievable since unlike the  ninth assembly where reps did not align with the agitation, members of the tenth assembly have all declared their support.

He commended the passion of Hon. Offiono to pursue the bill noting that we have a better stand.

Chief Ojie further noted that engagement is critical at this point and  urged the forum to drive the bill to a logical conclusion. According to him “everyone must do something”.

On his part, Hon Cletus Obun advised members to endeavor to  be present at the National assembly, sit at the gallery to witness and applaud. He further underscored the importance of  making  the  case propelling at the public speaking.

Chief  Igim Modey addressing the forum said the time has come  to come together and make the project a reality for the future and pledged his commitment to the cause.

  Dame Comfort Chigbue who gave the historical background of her efforts during the last assembly expressed joy at the present synergy and called for sustenance of the drive for Ogoja State creation. 


Aligning with her position, Pastor  Fidel Odey, expressed pleasure at the unity of purpose demonstrated so far  as Ogoja Stste  holds so much potential..He pointed to the vegetation which he says makes it a rich destination for eco tourism as the  capital and businesses are  on site.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Director DSS represented by Mr Pius Eneji ,Chief Kayjay  Jeddy-Agba
CRIDA President Abuja Mr Sankara Unung ,  Bar. Panam Ntui,Vivian Abang,Declan Agrinya amongst others.
