Stakeholders have raised concern over the deplorable state of the Ogoja-Bekwarra-Katsina-Ala Federal highway. The road links Cross River State to the north and sees a lot of travel for commercial activities.
Amb. Hart Modey, Chairman Hart Modey Foundation who spoke to our correspondent lamented the hardship caused by whole portions which have attained gully like status with vehicles sinking in the mud causing build up of traffic with passengers facing several hours of delay.

Dr Mike Udam who also commented on the state of the road said according to reports Mbok Junction to Gakem Section had been awarded since May this year though no visible change has been seen as the contractor allegedly disappeared after starting drainages on the Ndok axis of the road.
Amb. Modey expressed worry that the alternative roads through Ukpah and other villages explored by heavy duty trucks and other vehicles in a bid to avoid the totally bad portions at Abuochiche-Ugboro will have adverse effects on the villages as their roads are also being destroyed

He called on the federal government as well as all relevant bodies, to as a matter of urgency see to the repair of the road and hold contractors who have been awarded contracts on the road accountable to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
