(Photos)Rivers Helicopter Crash: NSIB Recovers Black Box, to Begin Investigation in Abuja

The federal government says the black box for the I’ll fated helicopter that crashed on the 24th of October after departing PortHarcout for an NNPC facility in Nniong Annam has been recovered

The Minister of aviation and aerospace development Festus Keyamo who briefed pressmen alongside the DG NSIB, Alex Badeh Jr, the DG NAMA and the representative of the acting DG NCAA Capt. Chris Najomo said the recorder was recovered on November 10 but moved to Abuja on November 11.He also said out of the 8 persons on the flight 3 were still missing while 5 had been discovered.

The DG NSIB ,Alex Badeh Jr assured Nigerians that they are now   on long term search and  recovery phase as the federal government  will not give up search for the remaining 3.  He said they have notified other neighbouring countries especially as one of the bodies was found in Cameroun.
Badeh further said the agency is offering support to families of the victims . Support provided according to them includes emotional, psychological support and updates on the state of the investigation.

The representative of the DG NCAA also said  appropriate sanctions will be apportioned if investigations reveal the accident is due to wilful violation.
