FG Moves to Validate National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy

The need to establish Marine infrastructure as well as a strong policy framework to drive Nigeria’s Marine and Blue economy has been emphasized.
The Minister of Marine and Blue economy Adegboyega Oyetola disclosed this at the executive validation workshop on the national policy on Marine and Blue economy in Abuja .

The ministry of Marine and Blue economy is new and tasked with the responsibility to maximize Nigeria’s gain from Marine resources.
To drive this objective an executive validation workshop for the national policy on Marine and Blue economy held in Abuja.
The Minister of Marine and Blue economy declaring the workshop said the national policy will pave a way for the sector to flourish.

He said ” a key factor in driving maritime development is the establishment of a strong policy framework. Many African countries are intensifying their cooperation to enhance knowledge of the blue economy and adopt policies that will unlock its vast potential. Nigeria is no exception. The Ministry has a clear vision for the sector, and our presence here today reaffirms the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to exploring the maritime future of our great country”.

The MD Dala dry inland port ,Alhaji Ahmad Rabiu who spoke on the relevance of the national policy says it will provide a framework for inter-agency cooperation that will lead to an improvement in service delivery. He also called for relevant legislation  backing the policy for sustainability .

Creating a national policy is part of the contract between the president and ministers signed earlier in the year.
