Five Crew Members Confirmed Safe as Jet Skids Off Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Runway

Following an incidence with a
Cargo Airplane that Skided-Off the Runway, leading to a temporary closure of the airspace at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport Abuja, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria says all five Crew on board escaped with no reported injury.

A statement signed by Mrs Obiageli Oprah director public affairs and consumer protection FAAN confirms that at 10:05am on December 11, 2024, an Allied Air Cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT skidded off Runway 22 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja with five (5) souls on board with no reported injury.

She further says they were all safely evacuated and taken to the FAAN clinic for further checks adding that the Airport Emergency response team is on the scene along with accident investigators.

As at the time of this report, NSIB is yet to release any information on the causes of the incident but says investigation will begin immediately, however a source at the airport confirmed that the air space has been reopened after the runway was cleared.
