Passenger Charged to Court for Disrupting IbomAir Flight

A passenger on Ibom Air , Ms Chiamaka Don Ubani, who disrupted peace on a flight departing Uyo for Abuja on Jan 8 2025 has been charged to court on the following counts by the Nigeria Police:

In a post on his X account, the director public affairs and consumer protection , Mr Mike Achimugu said she was charged on the following counts:

“Count 1.
Intentionally and maliciously preventing the door of the aircraft from closing and causing obstruction of flight Q1528 from flying, thereby committed offence punishable under section 436 of the criminal code, cap 39, volume. 2, laws of Akwa Ibom State.”

“Count 2:
She constituted herself into a public nuisance by obstructing flight Q1528 from flying at the scheduled time, an act which caused inconvenience or damage to passengers already boarded and the general public and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 196(1)(f) of the criminal code.”

According to him,she was released on bail on Friday, January 10, 2025. New date at the Uyo Magistrate Court is February 4, 2025.

Achimugu says, the Authority urges all passengers to shun unruly behaviour at the terminals and inside aircraft. He said passengers may send all complaints to michael.achimugu@ncaa.gov.ng
