Career Prospects: AAAU Hosts “Catch Them Young” Initiative

The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja has hosted a strategic career orientation event titled “Building Africa’s Next Generation of Aviation Leaders ” to inspire secondary school students within the FCT to consider careers in aviation.

The event which held Tuesday ,  May 20 2025 commenced with a  welcome address by the Registrar AAAU, Dr. Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, who emphasied the university’s commitment to nurturing young talents and bridging the skills gap in African aviation.

A statement by Miss Saadatu Usman says during the event, presentations were delivered by AAAU and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology(NCAT) experts on key topics such as Opportunities in Africa, Aircraft Systems, Aviation Law, Meteorology and Industry Manpower Challenges.

She further says the secondary school students also received insights from AAAU students currently studying in the field. Participating schools included Aviation City International College, Government Day Secondary School Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Airport, Government Secondary School Garki and Holy Family College Kuje, with representatives from the FCT Secondary Education Board in attendance.

The event concluded with a closing remark by the Director of Professional Training Programmes(DPTP), Mr. Aliyu Tata Azare who reaffirmed AAAU’s commitment to guiding young minds toward impactful careers in aviation.
