Former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State , Ambassador Etim Okpoyo has described recent Publications in Eagle Eye and other papers crediting him with some statements as false affirming that the publications were based by comments made by him at an interview with some newspapers between 2015 and,2019.
In an interaction with the media, the former Deputy Governor said that in 2015 he talked about making an Oron man a Governor while in 2019 , he commented on the NSIT ATTAI- OKOBO – ORON ROAD and suggested that the contract for the road construction should be awarded to a qualified contractor.
The Ambassador further asserted that in the last 4 to five years he has not granted any interview to any newspaper be it local or National.
Chief Amb.Okpoyo again stated during the chat with the newspapers that the publication is a total lie and a wicked attempt by wicked sponsors from Oron who are hungry for urgent power and recognition in Akwa Ibom State.
At the brief meeting with some journalists led by Global Spynews seeking his reaction to the publication by EAGLE EYE and other newspapers in the State , Amb.Okpoyo affirmed that as an Elder Statesman and a former Amb.he totally supports the decamping of Gov.Umo Eno from PDP to APC adding that the Governor’s decision is for the good of the totality of Akwa Ibom State people. He also stated unequivocally that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the South must complete his 8yrs tenure as the President from the South.
The Elder Statesman called on Akwa Ibom State and indeed Nigerians to work together and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu beyond 2027.
He reiterated that the publication by EAGLE EYE is in bad faith, misconceived, and totally mischievous and should be ignored by members of the public..
